38th Annual International Conference of the Bangladesh Society of Microbiologists

The 38th Annual International Conference of the Bangladesh Society of Microbiologists (BSM) was held at BRAC University in Dhaka from December 28–29, 2024. The conference was themed around "Microbes in Health and Nutrition" and brought together over 600 experts, researchers, and students to discuss advancements in the field.

Key Highlights

• Inauguration: The opening ceremony featured Professor M. Aminul Islam, Special Assistant at the Ministry of Education, as the Chief Guest. A major highlight was the conferral of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Professor Dr. Ziauddin Ahmed.
• Scientific Sessions: The two-day event hosted 15 technical sessions and 11 panel discussions covering critical areas such as One Health, Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), Molecular Biology, and Virology.
• Youth Engagement: The Youth Emerging Scientist (YES) session provided a platform for students and early-career researchers from both public and private institutions to present their research projects.
